Sustainable impact through Education

Education is an essential tool in the fight to eradicate poverty. Dana Asia works to reduce education inequalities in marginalised communities to improve the livelihoods of impoverished families and work towards zero poverty throughout southeast Asia.

Access to education can cut global poverty in half.

According to UNESCO, if all children in low-income countries had just basic reading skills, an estimated 171 million people could escape extreme poverty. If all adults completed secondary education, we could cut the global poverty rate by more than half. So what is needed to make this happen?

  • Build more schools in rural areas – 60% of the world’s poor live in rural areas. Many children are not getting an education simply because there are no schools near their homes.
  • Provide scholarships – Many families cannot afford to send their children to school. By offering scholarships and other forms of financial aid, we can make education more accessible to these families.

Education is critical for breaking the cycle of poverty. It increases job opportunities for low-income families and helps break the intergenerational cycle of poverty. Educated parents are more likely to send their children to school and help them with homework, which in turn sets them up for success in the future.

Education increases access to employment opportunities and can help reduce the likelihood of children from low-income families being trapped in low-paying jobs.

By investing in education, we can help reduce poverty and build a better future for everyone.

Dana Asia has provided more than 3,000 children from low-income families access to quality education throughout Southeast Asia.
