DUNCAN HAS ARRIVED IN DARWIN

The fundraiser won’t stop until we reach our target of 110,000 AUD

The Final Stretch – A Big Thank You

Finish Line – Made It To Darwin

Duncan Cycled For Recycling

Duncan has finished a 3016 KM bicycle ride through the heart of Australia to raise funds for a sustainable innovative recycling project in the Philippines – the #3 most plastic polluted country in the world.

“I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me on this incredible journey either through donating or through your kind and encouraging words on social media. These have all meant a lot to me and kept me going through the strongest head-wind, the steepest hill, dodging the 50-metre road trains, or the pain barrier of cycle chafing!”

Duncan’s Updates

  • Ranges View Campsite

  • Pimba – Spuds Road House

  • Roadhouse Glendambo resort
  • Kryss Camp
  • Coober Pedy Caravan park

Ten days since Duncan completed his Cycle for Recycling journey and activities have already begun in our partner communities!

1. The ALPAS social housing community collected 60kgs of waste plastic which was transported to a recycling hub to be turned into eco-bricks. When we reach our AU$110,000 fundraising target, a new recycling hub will be set up in a partner community to be able to process much more.

2. To celebrate the end of Duncan’s cycle ride, partner @greenantz donated 250 eco-bricks that will be used in the construction of a new eco store within the housing site. The eco store will be a blueprint for other sustainable sari-sari-type stores to advocate for zero-waste lifestyles and plastic alternatives to reduce the amount of waste plastic being consumed in urban poor communities.

Thank you to our partners for their great work! You can still help us reach our fundraising target at www.danaasia.org/cycleforrecycling #cycleforrecycling #zerowaste #recycling #sustainability #philippines

Oh! This brought tears to my eyes! So glad you made it to Darwin safe and sound this morning Duncan, and so lovely to hear that round of applause on your arrival - you deserve all the accolades in the world!

Green Antz eco bricks contribution to ALPAS Cooperatives construction of ECO Store -

Dana Asia community partners in the Philippines, have initiated parallel action in support of Duncan's CYCLE for RECYCLING. Today ALPAS Cooperative delivered 80 kls of clean & dry plastic wastes collected in their social housing site to Green Antz Builders to upcycle it into eco bricks. Green Antz collaborative action is to contribute 250 ecobricks for the construction of ALPAS Coop ECO Store - a zero waste retail store. Lets join in various ways to broaden social- environmental actions!
